method of seqential correction of the course of the cycle of thermoplastic injection molding. Pt. 1, Deterministic correction algorithm

Abstract

An algorithmic method of supervision of injection molding process of thermoplastics was elaborated (Fig. 1 and 2). It consists in sequential multistage compensation of forecasted molding quality deviations, caused by disturbances of slow-speed variable parameters supervising the process, by immediate change of quick controllable variables during the same injection molding cycle (Fig. 3 and 4). Both the prediction and process correction is performed in the real-time mode (during the same cycle) so the probability of defective products' manufacturing is limited. One of alternative correction algorithms was tested: deterministic one based on empirical regression models of supervised characteristics of molding quality (here: its length-wise dimension). This algorithm was applied to the supervision of injection molding of PE-LD normalized molding. Empirical revision showed the high efficiency of algorithm designed as the distribution of molding shrinkage was reduced twice (Fig. 5).
