Polyurethane composites with mixture of carbon fibers and glass frit

Abstract

Polyurethane elastomer (EPU) and polyureaurethane (PUUR) products are used in many stages of the mining process, such as extraction, transport, processing and storage. In these stages wheels with tires from polyurethane elastomers are used. Tire materials, especially in suspended transport, are exposed to particularly high loads, which results in their destruction and consequently short exploitation period. To solve this problem it was proposed to use for the production of tires polyurethane composites manufactured using fillers in the form of chopped carbon fiber and glass frit. The effect of the mixture of glass frit and carbon fibers on the properties of polyurethane elastomers was measured. The resulting composites were characterized using the techniques of thermal analysis (DSC, TGA and DMTA) and the structure was described using SEM. The results of tribological research and the evaluation of antistatic traits of the obtained polyureaurethanes were presented.
