Polymer inclusion membrane based on cellulose triacetate (CTA) plasticized with 2-nitrophenyl octyl ether

Abstract

The article describes a structure of the polymer inclusion membrane (PIM) with cellulose triacetate (CTA) matrix and its use for the separation of chromium(III) ions from aqueous solutions. Di(2-ethylhexyl) phosphoric acid (D2EHPA) was used as a ion carrier. The efficiency of Cr(III) ions transport in the test system was dependent on the carrier concentration in the membrane. In periodic processes the performance of PIM system was stable, which indicates the possibility of using it for the selective separation of Cr(III) from a mixture of Cr(III)/Cr(VI) ions.
