Dimensional stability, physical, mechanical and thermal properties of high density polyethylene with peanut hulls composites

Abstract

Three composites with different filler content (6, 17 or 32 wt. %) were prepared from waste PE-HD polyethylene film and finely-ground peanut hulls. The processing was carried out without the use of additives, using equipment commonly used in polymer processing. The obtained materials are characterized by a low density, acceptably low moisture absorption capacity and good mechanical properties; also, after the life time, they can serve as a valuable fuel.
