Surface free energy of polymer/wood composites

Abstract

The effects of the type and content of wooden filler on surface free energy (γS) and its components (polar γSP and dispersive (γSD ones) of polymer/wood composites (WPC), based on poly(vinyl chloride) or polypropylene, were investigated. It was found that the addition of wooden filler causes increase in γS and γSD values of PVC based composites. In the case of PP composites, usually γSP and γS values increase while gSD does not show the regularity.
