Methods of analysis of poly(aspartic acid) and its derivatives

Abstract

General characteristics of the methods of analysis of poly(aspartic acid) (PKA) has been presented on the basis of literature (mainly patents). PKA is abiodegradable polymer what let use it in medicine, environmental protection, agriculture and cosmetics. It can occur in cyclic form [as polysuccinimide, PSI, Formula (I)] or linear one [Formula (II)]. The results of investigation of the structures of sodium salts of PKA and PSI by nuclear magnetic resonance (1H NMR and 13C NMR), infrared spectroscopy, gel permeation chromatography and thermogravimetry were discussed.
