Present advantages of chemistry and technology in the field of enamel systems for coil coatings and cans

Abstract

This is a review (last 10 years) on chemistry and technology of paints for the coil coatings and cans from point of view of main trends of development. Last years the authors of technologies of enamel systems for cans have concentrated attention mainly on water-based paints. At the same time the organic solvent systems have been of primary importance for the coil coatings. As well for cans the organic solvent systems are still important. Last 10 years the investigations have concerned various methods of chemical and physico-chemical modification in order to optimize technological conditions of obtaining film-forming systems and to improve the properties of coatings such as adhesion, flexibility and barrier properties
