Producing mobile robot gripper part prototypes from polymeric materials using additive manufacturing technology. Part I. Mechanical properties and material constants of specimens from acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene copolymer

Abstract

In this work, the application of Fused Deposition Modeling for manufacturing of mobile robot gripper part prototypes from amodified copolymer of acrylonitrile, butadiene, and styrene (ABS-M30) was investigated. The effects of the type of filling geometry on the mechanical properties and material constants (such as Young's and Kirchhoff's Moduli and Poisson's ratio) of polymeric fittings were evaluated. The static tensile tests in three directions with strain registration using high speed camera system Aramis were carried out at three different sample orientations. The results were compared with literature data on the injection molded fittings made from ABS-M30.
