Synthesis and characteristics of mesoporous aluminosilicate materials for modification of polymers

Abstract

The direct synthesis method was used to prepare mesoporous aluminosilicate molecular sieves AlSBA-15 (aluminum incorporated Santa Barbara Amorphous No. 15) characterized by high surface area, large mesopores and good stability due to the increased thickness of mesopore walls. The effect of aluminum precursor type (aluminum isopropoxide – AIP, aluminum sulfate – AS) and Si/Al molar ratio on the structural parameters (determined using XRD, N2 sorption isotherm analysis and TEM) as well as composition (analyzed by AAS and Al27 MAS NMR) of AlSBA-15 materials were investigated. From the results of these studies, it can be supposed that the synthesized mesoporous aluminosilicates are promising materials for the use as active fillers in polymer modification.
