Parameters characterizing optotelecommunication cable and its innerduct interaction

Abstract

The method of investigation of optotelecommunication cables and their innerduct commercial samplings has been presented. These investi-gations were possible to be made with using laboratory test stand designed and constructed at the Department of Polymer Processing (Technical Univer-sity of Lublin). The axial force within the cable, which occur when the cable is pulled into the innerduct put out of action in proper geometrical position, has been measured (Fig. 1). As a result of experiments it is possible to calcu-late a lot of values, formerly not identified, characterizing the course of cable installing process (Fig. 2-5). Examples of the results of investigations of three following times installed pair of materials: optotelecommunication cable with outer layer madę of PE-HD and innerduct made of PE-HD with slip layer made of either PTFE or silicon polymer on the surface, have been presented (Fig. 6, 7). The values of various characteristic parameters describing the cable and innerduct interaction, calculated on the basis of measurements done, were set up in Table 1.
